The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is an appointed body responsible for ensuring fair and consistent application of the city’s zoning ordinances. The Board reviews requests for variances, special exceptions, and interpretations of zoning regulations, providing a mechanism for flexibility while maintaining compliance with established standards.
Members of the ZBA are appointed by the City Council and serve designated terms. The Board holds public meetings to consider appeals, hear testimony, and make decisions that balance individual property rights with the community’s planning goals. By providing a formal avenue for review, the Zoning Board of Appeals supports equitable land use decisions and upholds the integrity of the city’s zoning framework.
Members shall be registered electors of the city. ZBA members are appointed by the Mayor for 3 year terms.
